Robert Capa's Running for Shelter During Air Raid was taken in Barcelona in 1939. It gives a glimpse of what it was like to live in Europe during World War II. At any moment, one had to be prepared to drop everything and seek cover. It seems as if this woman was caught off guard by the raid because she is wearing high heels which are obviously not ideal for running. I find it interesting that the background of the picture is blurred while the woman and her dog are clear. This suggests that the photographer was moving with them. It is difficult for me to understand how in a life threatening situation such as this one, Capa was focused on capturing the moment with his camera rather than immediately finding shelter.
