Alms II

"Alms II" taken by Jonathan Luckhurst documents people worshiping in India. I really love this picture, although it is pretty difficult to see and not clear at all. It gives the photo a kind of hazy and dream-like or surreal feel, which is appropriate for the act that they are engaging in. The picture is blurry which seems symbolic of no one standing out under God, and everyone being the same. The photo also elicits curiosity in the viewer, by raising many questions. From the title, we know they are worshiping, but we do not know who they are, what they are worshiping, and where they are, without a description. The photographer does a good job of leaving questions unanswered by not revealing everything.
