I thought this a was a cool photo for a few reasons.  first off, i always enjoy looking at beach photography and this is an interesting photo of the ocean.  i like how the water in forming a little river.  second, i like how the light is reflecting off the water.  one can tell it is a cloudy day but the photographer really captures the light that is making it through the clouds.  lastly i like this picture for its contrast.  i think contrast is one of the most important elements in a black and white photo.
